2008:
January
Tananka Arts held the Annual Meeting/Celebration on 1-26-2008.
We recieved a Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council (SMAHC) Challenge grant in the sum of $500 for a great membership drive (Thanks SMAHC!)
We applied for a Local Arts Development (LAD) grant to purchase display units, secure independent non-profit status, and purchase a computer kiosk for traveling educational programs
February, March, April We reached the $500 goal of the SMAHC Challenge grant with the help of new members and members who renewed at a more generous level in our on-going Membership drive
May Tatanka Arts held a Spring Art Exhibit at the Fieldstone Vinyard in Morgan, MN on the first two weekends in May. Each Saturday we held an Artist's Reception with live music and refreshments (in addition to Fieldstone's wide selection of locally grown wines)
We continued work on the Town Square Park project in downtown Redwood Falls with funding assistance from Thrivent (Thanks Thrivent!)
June We offered several Art-In-The-Park classes for youth at Ramsey Park. Sponsors for these classes included the Redwood Falls Rotary Club and Thrivent Financial. (A big thanks to both!)
Tananka Arts held an Art Exhibit/Sale in conjunction with the Minnesota Inventor's Congress at the High School in Redwood Falls. Donna Larkin and Elaine Hagen both took People's Choice awards for their fine work
July/August Tatanka Arts had an Art Exhibit/Sale at the Corn Capitol Days in Olivia
We held an Art Picnic at the lovely Cedar Rock Ranch (see the Tatanka Arts Gallery for some phototgraphs Elaine Hagen took there that day). Not only was the scenery stunning but the hills were awash in wild strawberries!
Tatanka artists agreed to display some of their work in vacant store windows in downtawn Redwood Falls on a rotating basis (Thanks artists!)
Joel & Ruth McKinney were "Rostered" by the Minnesota State Arts Board for Arts in Education residencies (www.blackhawk-studios.org)
September/October The Redwood Falls Public Library hosted a show of Tatanka Arts artist's work (Thanks Redwood Library!)
The Estabo Foundation made a most generous donation of $3500 to Tankanka Arts for the "Town Square" project (Wow! Our big, big thanks to the Estabos!)
Tatanka Arts was represented at the Fall Festival by Elaine Hagen and David Mngodo. Ruth and Joel McKinney sponsored an Arts-for-Kids fundraising booth featuring hands-on wire & bead jewelry projects
November/December Tatanka Arts was invited to display our artist's work at the SMAHC Annual Celebration at Jackpot Junction (Thanks SMAHC!)
We held an Art Show & Sale at the Scenic City Realty office building in conjunction with Redwood Falls' Christmas by Candlelight celebration (Thanks Scenic City!) Some artists also participated in the Beneath the Village Wreath event in Morton, MN.
Tatanka received funding from the Blandin Foundation to cover the cost of architectural planning for the Town Square Park project (Thanks Blandin Group!)
We applied for a SMAHC Challenge grant for the coming year (Thanks to our generous members and potential new members! Your membership upgrades and new memberships will be matched by the Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council! Thanks again SMAHC!)
 

2009 Projects:
On-going Membership Drive (Join Now!) and fundraising for specific projects
 
NEW: Implement a revolving program for art to be displayed in vacant and professional store window spaces in Redwood Falls and Olivia
January: Annual Celebration & Fundraiser January 31st at the home of Jerry & Deb Hess. All members wil receive invitations (So Join Now!). Memebers, invite friends to come and join Tatanka Arts! Basic mebership is only $25 annually. Remember, your membership dues go to support numerous arts and art educational projects in and around Redwood and Renville counties
Board members are available to do Study Club presentations about Tatanka Arts and our various projects and artists
February: Membership Drive formally begins (But Don't Wait Until Then! Come to the Annual Celebration as a New Member!)
March/April Continued planning and fundraising for projects
May Town Square Park groundbreaking and concrete work
Spring Art Show & Sale at Fieldstone Vinyards, Morgan MN

Minnesota Inventor's Congress Art Exhibit/Sale.
 
Notice: We would like to see smaller venue arts performances happening in Town Square Park throughout the summer, i.e., small musical groups or individual musicians, readings, recitals, karaoke-in-the-park, etc.
